That one time we almost got arrested in Bulgaria

(Traducción en Español comming soon!)

God’s control is more evident than ever in this whole journey. Let me tell you a little bit of what has been happening with our team Unity 31.

The first week we were working in a gypsy village, showing the love of Jesus and the Gospel. It was beautiful, but in that same week, the whole team was fighting with lots of thoughts. Each one of us had kind of a mental battle, and we were having in it in silence. Things started to get in way heavier and Monday night everything was out, we all talked and felt the presence of God taking all the heaviness away (I personally felt that physically… which btw was awesome). Then after a few minutes of talking about how things were doing in the moment and how God was working, I started to feel a heaviness outside trying to get in, I felt fear, I felt war outside of the walls. I shared that feeling with my teammates and we decided to start praying and worshiping God, we were going to fight back. God told us that the battle this week instead of just having heavy thought was going to be more from the outside.

Then that very next day, we had street ministry we went to a house to pray for healing and freedom. Things we feeling weird and heavy but at the same time we knew we were supposed to be there, God was working! But in a moment a teammate and I decided to step out of the door for a little bit of fresh air (it was too crowded in the home) and I wanted to ask her how she was feeling. Like two minutes later two boys (13 and 15 years old) with a bunch of kids came out of the home and started to talk to us, they started to say how pretty we were and started to emphasise the whole body. We started to feel uncomfortable and decided to go in. The 15 year old grabs my teammates arm trying to force a hug. I took his arm from her and pushed her in and he grabbed me, and he just didn’t want to let me go. I started to say Ne (No)… Ne (No)… Ne (No)…Ne (No) trying to free myself from him and when I was 10 sec away from punching him in the face he let me go. Everything was okay, but we knew this was the enemy trying to take our focus out of the family situation.

Then two days later we were going to evangelize in the streets of another village. I don’t know exactly how God did everything but we decided at first to go to a little plaza and sing to catch the attention of the people and then share the gospel with them, but before we even started to sing my wise leader (Amy) saw a group of women working (cleaning the floor taking the grass out of it) and she just sat down with them to help them. I followed her and in the end the entire group was helping. Showing them that we are not different from them. We were all laughing and so happy until the moment a police officer appears and then two more and then another one. They were asking for our passports, and neither of us had our passports with us, just our translator (thank God). They were mad even though I had the copy of my passport and drivers license. Just a couple of people had their driver’s license with them (not me). In the end they told us that we have to go and never come back, and if we do we better have our passports with us.

When we got in the car safe, our translator told us that they were going to arrest us just because of that. I really don’t know what happened, why we didn’t get arrested, but its more than evident that God was there protecting every single thing the devil was doing against us.

So family and friends we are more than safe here. We are in God’s hands and it’s perfect!
