The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Exodus 14:14

On June 26th, 1997 at 7:23pm, I was born. I was 7lbs 12oz. The reason that I know that is because #7 is my favorite/lucky number, along with #12. When I played baseball, basketball, and soccer, that would be my number. I write number 7 on almost everything I do. When I make food at the restaurant, I have to label it with the date but then I add my signature #7. It’s awesome to see others do it too.
In just 9 days I will be in Gainesville, GA for training camp or known as missionary boot camp.
In just 71 days, I will be packing my bags to head to Africa!!!!!
What should I do in the mean time while I wait for those things to happen?
Jake Davis spoke at Mountaintop Community Church yesterday on waiting. You see, I can wait in lines all day but when it comes to life, its hard. I am now 20 and halfway to 40. Why do I say that? It is not because I want to make people feel like I am old, its solely because I want to be old. Meaning have everything figured out in my life. Job, Family, Church, and just be settled in.
God is working in our waiting. One of the most popular chapters in the Bible, Romans 8:28 says “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good.” In the midst of your waiting and trails, God is working for your good and for His will.
Jake talked about the story of Jairus and the women intercepting Jesus on the way. This story is in Luke 8.
Jairus is the ruler of the synagogue, he makes sure the temple remains holy and clean by making sure impure and diseased people do not enter the temple. Jarius daughter, who is 12 years old, is very sick.
Jesus was going to Jairus daughter when he was surrounded by a crowd of people. A women who was bleeding for 12 years. She is considered sinful, impure, and an outcast. She was optimistic about going to touch a piece of Jesus clothing. She went behind him and touched his garment and immediately healed her.
On the way to Jairus house, his daughter dies. Jairus was frustrated with Jesus because he took a detour. If Jairus never goes on this detour with Jesus, he will never know who Jesus is. When Jesus finally arrived, he wouldn’t let anyone else go in besides Peter, John, James, the mother and father. Jesus says that she wasn’t dead but only asleep. Others laughed thinking that she was dead. Jesus held her hand and said, “my child, get up!”
Often times in our waiting we are longing for a miracle that is inferior, but Jesus is superior. In our lives today, Jesus wants to whisper to us, “Talitha cum” Child arise.
So Rise up!!! Not like the Atlanta Falcons did in the Super Bowl (sorry chris). Rise in His spirit and live fruitfully. Don’t just follow Jesus but trust in him with everything you have. He has you, He will awake you!
One of my favorite verses is Psalms 46:10
“Be still and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
We just need to be still and know that God has our future. He is the all powerful and all knowing God. With all these upcoming events, It can be frightful of what is to come. Recently it has become more difficult to grasp what is in store for my future. Like what should I do after the race? Should I continue with the same major in college? Should I change colleges? What’s life going to be like when I get back? All these answers are unknown. So I ask that you pray for my future and also my teams future as we head into the glorious unknown.

Mark 4:39

“Teach me, and I will be quiet; show me where I have been wrong.”
Job 6:24

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.”
