On Saturday our squad took a trip to the great city of Manzini, which is the most populated city in Swaziland. We went to shop at the market and to experience the culture.
We all gathered back into the Kombis
and left all the leaders behind so that they can debrief the month. I was really curious how this night would turn out without any leaders but of course my expectations were wrong.
We arrived back to the compound from the city around 5pm. There was a lot of negative feelings going around. A lot of anger, depression, doubts, and even a few thoughts about dropping out.
We had about 30 minutes left of electricity that needed to last a day and a half. We ran out in just 15 minutes. Most of us cooked mac and cheese or just made sandwiches. There were a ton of dishes so I decided to do them. While unclogging the drain, a girl walked in feeling a little depressed. I asked her what was wrong but she didn’t want to talk. She was just trying to find a quite place to sit. I wouldn’t know that I had missed an opportunity until later that night.
After I finished the dishes, we called a guys meeting to talk about life and stuff. During this meeting we saw a dark object outside of our area. It was the girl who was was depressed. She somewhat overheard our conversations about the Holy Spirit and she quickly fled.
She ran to the cross next to our courtiers. As we continued our conversation, 2 of the guys saw negative dark spirits in our little courtiers.
Noticing this, all 10 guys held hands, walked, and prayed out loud all through our area. We went further than that and prayed over the whole compound. Some of the girls who were out and about joined as well.
We went all the way around the compound to end up at the cross which is ironically right next to a thorn tree. The girl saw us coming towards her. She quickly got up and ran the opposite direction towards the fence. After praying around the cross, we finally noticed her and 2 of the guys went to find out what’s going on. She was very depressed and having a panic attack. She didn’t know why because her day went well.
Everyone who was out prayed for her and tears started rolling off people’s checks as the night went on. We saw a change in the atmosphere. We knew the one and only God almighty is with us and in us forever. He is here to protect us and I pray for anyone who is reading this that you know that He is also with you.
The night was not over. We have been blessed with spectacular musicians so we began to worship.
One of the guys had a brilliant idea. All 10 guys to pair up and pray right outside the girls doors all night long. 2 guys were sick so they were unable to do so but the rest of us attempted an all nighter. I have to say I didn’t last all night but during the long cold night God worked in my heart like never before.
Isaiah 56:7 “These I will bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer”
Isaiah 60:20 “Your sun shall no more go down, nor your moon withdraw itself; for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of mourning shall be ended.”
Isaiah 49:18 “Lift up your eyes around and see; they all gather, they come to you. As I live, declares the Lord, you shall put them all on as an ornament; you shall bind them on as a bride does.
