Hello everyone!! Guess what?!? I AM BACK IN AMERICA! I have been back for about 2 months now!! Lots of ups and downs while being back. My stomach went a little wack for the first couple weeks and adjusted back to American food with the large portions. I also live in the south so fried everything!!
Driving was nerve racking! I circled the neighborhood a could a times before I actually left to go to church.
Before I left for the race, I was in my comfort zone more than I realized. When I got back, I was aware of everything that was going on. Every action or word I spoke. My subconscious didn’t adapt to being back home until later.
I took the first 2 weeks off, catching up and things like that. I went back to work for a single week because they were in need for help.
3 weeks into being home, I went to Gainesville, Georgia where we had a debrief session with my whole squad for 5 solid days. It was a very relaxing time with everyone that I had dearly missed. It was crazy to think about being back in America with my squad-mates and driving them around.
I recently volunteered to go back to Gainesville, GA to serve at a Gap Year training camp! 6 squads made up of 272 college aged kids are going to go out into 24 different countries to serve our glorious king. I was able to interact with a few of them and they are just fired up for God. The 10 days they experience wasn’t easy. It was a spiritual battle because when you are on the right track, the evil one tries to divert you into destruction.
So henceforward my future. What is it going to look like?
I have been putting off the blog for a long time because I felt like I need to have everything together and know exactly what’s next but here are some opportunities that I’m still deciding.
I have been accepted to go to a discipleship training school for sports ministry in Australia!!! It is with YWAM (youth with a mission). This is a 6 month program. It’s starts off with a 12 weeks of teaching in and outside the classroom. For the last 3 months, it’s going and doing outreach either inside the country or elsewhere. This would start on October 7th! I would need to raise a good bit of money quickly before I left. Overall it costs about $7,000 but that doesn’t include my plane ticket which is around $1,000-$1,300!! I would need to raise half that in 2 months!! That is completely possible!!
I have been also thinking about getting more involved with Adventures In Missions. Which I may intern at a base either in Guatemala, Cambodia, or Swaziland. This would start in January and I would have to raise anywhere from $10,000 to $12,000. My sole purpose would be to do sports ministry but also have other tasks as well to help keep the base running. I was originally trying to help out the Nicaraguan base but with all the rioting and crime that is going on, it’s too dangerous at the moment.
We were in Granada, Nicaragua for about 3 weeks in March. It’s crazy to think that the city, even the whole country, is now deserted and is completely going downhill. Please pray for them!
So I am in this season of waiting. (cue Seasons Change by United Pursuit)
One of my favorite verses is Psalms 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Here is says be still not stay still. While in the waiting, I have to keep surrendering to the Lord daily.
“Never stop praying. Be ready for anything by praying and being thankful. Also pray for us. Pray that God will give us an opportunity to tell people his message. I am in prison for doing this. But pray that we can continue to tell people the secret truth that God has made known about Christ. Pray that I will say what is necessary to make this truth clear to everyone. Be wise in the way you act with those who are not believers. Use your time in the best way you can. When you talk, you should always be kind and wise. Then you will be able to answer everyone in the way you should.”
