What is the world race training camp?
-Training Camp is an intense 10-day experience where me and my teammates met in Georgia to connect deeply with the Lord and each other. Through teaching, prayer, scenarios, and relationship building, we stepped out of fear and shame and into intimacy with the Father. We also receive training on how to partner with God to establish His Kingdom on Earth. It’s designed to be challenging because they want to prepare us for the road ahead. They put us in scenarios to stretch us, refine us, and bring us closer to Christ.
Lets start at the beginning, why did I sign up for The World Race Gap Year?
In 2015, I took my first international mission trip to the Philippines. I met a group of world racers. From then on, I was seeking for more. Seeking for more than just an ordinary life. God was once telling me to MOVE out of my comfort zone but now He is telling me to GO!! Now I am ready to go!! -Matthew 28:19
Now what did I learn at training camp?
We had three main subjects we covered.
1. Intimacy with God
2. Missional Living
3. Community
We first focused on missional living. Gods love and forgiveness stretches from the east to the west. Meaning its everlasting.
Relationship is the foundation of discipleship. We first need to build a relationship with someone to disciple them. We are all participating in the advancement of Gods kingdom.
Sometimes we question whether or not the thoughts inside us come from God or from the enemy. Ask yourself this if you do.
Is it spiritual? -proverbs 24:6
Does it lift/exalt Christ? -John 16:4
Does it bear fruit? -Luke 6:43
Does it come to fulfillment? Deuteronomy 18:21
We talked about the power of scripture. Reconciliation is a common theme throughout the whole bible. His kindness leads us to repentance. It is not motivated by guilt but his kindness. We talked about how we all just read the words on the page. We shouldn’t just look at the Bible, we need to look through it. Without the Holy Spirit then its just a book.
God is always inviting us to a new partnership -John 1:12-13
The Holy Spirit does not just has visitation rights, He is a resident that is going to stay with you no matter what. He dwells within us.
We talked about self-governess, emotional health, and goals.
One of our goals is to be in unity in the spirit and with each other. -Eph 4:26
Read James 2- Deeds and Faith.
If you build a church then you sometimes get disciples but if you will make disciples then you will get the church every time. Faith without action is dead.
For community, we did various scenarios. We slept in an “airport” one night. All the lights were on and it was very chaotic. We were also very cramped in this “airport”. We slept in community tents. It is about a 20 person tent if you really tried. All 10 guys that are on my squad slept in one. We bonded really well in this scenario. Another night, half of our squads luggage was lost by the airport. We had to partner up and share for the night. Now I had a 1 person tent, but lucky I had my hammock with me to sleep in.
Each day we were in a different region or country. So we were in Central America, Asia, India, Eastern European, travel days, and back to America day. Each of our meals were designed by each day. Surprise surprise, we ate a lot of Rice!
This is my team that I will be doing ministry and traveling with for the next 9 months!! You will hear more about them later on!
