Disclaimer:If you clicked on this article hoping to hear a heart-warming love story about a beautiful engagement, I’m sorry to disappoint you.
I said “Yes” to something different!
In my quest for the right words to describe what I am doing next year, I’ve found that Mother Teresa said it best.
“The greatest disease in the West today is not TB or leprosy; it is being unwanted, unloved, and uncared for. We can cure physical diseases with medicine, but the only cure for loneliness, despair, and hopelessness is love. There are many in the world who are dying for a piece of bread but there are many more dying for a little love. The poverty in the West is a different kind of poverty — it is not only a poverty of loneliness but also of spirituality. There’s a hunger for love, as there is a hunger for God.”
It overwhelms my heart to know that countless people are hungry for the love of Christ. I truly want to see how deep, how high, and how wide His love stretches throughout the world. I want to serve and grow; to learn and share; to listen and love.
With deadlines drawing near (half of the funds for my trip are due by May 22nd), I realize that a post sharing what I will be doing for the next year of my life is a bit overdue. Trust me, every independent bone in my body has been strongly opposed to asking others for support. This process is humbling me, to say the least.
I am in need of an enormous amount of prayer and support for my journey; I have never taken such a large step of faith in my life. Pray that the Lord will increase my patience-helping me to stay confident in the midst of stressful financial deadlines. I am beyond thankful for all of the positive encouragement I have received. I know that the Lord is working in ways I can not fully understand right now, and I look forward to learning more about His plan this year.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for praying!
