This year of the race has flown by. I have spent the past month in Zambia, Africa living in and out of the bush. I hadn’t thought about time or the date of the day throughout the month. But after our first two weeks in the bush my team and I came back into town for a few days to recoup before the next village. I had sat down at a cafe and ordered a milkshake when I looked at the date, just wondering what day it was. And to my surprise, It was Christmas Eve!!!!!! I had no idea it had come up so fast. It felt like just the day before I spent thanksgiving in Zimbabwe. I also then realized it was my moms birthday so I gave her a call as any good son would do.
Time is an interesting thing. When you pay attention to it it might still go by fast and yet still feels as if it drags on. But the moment you take your focus off of the time and start focusing on where you are and the things your doing; Time will fly by and you’ll be a month and a half away from when you last checked. Spending Christmas in Africa wasn’t all that hard for me. I wasn’t sad that I wasn’t with my family or friends. I didn’t miss home all too much. It was just another day. I spent it with my team through a little gift swap and a whole lot of just hanging out. It was a relaxing day. Talked to my family for a tiny bit but the internet dropped and that was that for the rest of the day. And that was my Christmas in Africa.
