Hello everyone!! Just wanted to update you guys on what I’m doing this month in Cambodia. It’s crazy to think that we are in month 10!! Our first double-digit month! And just like the others, I’m excited to see how God shows up throughout this month.
My team is doing a ministry that me and Team Reckless Pursuit did back in Bolivia. We are doing the Unsung Heroes Campaign (UHC) and an Ask the Lord (ATL) month!! If you don’t remember what that all entails, check out my blog “Sowing the Harvest” back in the Bolivia posts. I’m really excited as we embark on this month because, even though I’ve already done this before, God showed up in really cool ways and I know He is going to show up in even cooler ways this month!
And after only a couple days in, He’s already begun to show up. Ministry officially started this past Monday, but a couple of us went to a local church on Sunday night to see if we could meet potential contacts in the area. It was an English-speaking church and we were excited to see what God would do. It ended up being an awesome experience as we met several people and one woman who even housed us for 3 nights for free!! She had to travel to Phnom Penh for a couple days and needed someone to watch her cats for her (she has 5 or 6). Since we were in need of cheap housing right away as we were leaving our hostel the next day, it was a perfect opportunity. And to see just how willing and trusting she was of 8 strangers who she met for 5 minutes to stay at her house for 3 nights was nothing short of a miracle!
But that’s not all! A couple days later we were walking in the downtown market area where most of the action happens in Siem Reap just praying and asking the Lord where He would have us go. We met some crippled people who were selling merchandise and stopped to talk with them and ended up praying for them which was really cool. The people here are so willing to let you pray for them regardless of whether they truly believe in it or not.
But the coolest thing of that day was when we went into a bookstore for a couple minutes. At first, I saw it as just a way to escape the heat and get some A/C for a bit before heading back out again, but then my teammates called me over to show me something. On the table right at the front of the store was a hard-cover book that was titled “Unsung Heroes: Cambodia.” I was just floored by this. Talk about a God-moment!!
And the thing was nothing really spectacular happened in that bookstore. No one got saved. No one got healed. We really only had a short conversation with the cash lady. But I think the purpose for going into that store was to show us that God was with us and that He was guiding our steps. And that’s good to know because if God doesn’t show up this month, we aren’t going to be doing much.
So if you have any friends or people that you know that are doing ministry in Cambodia please send me their contact info to my email ([email protected]) so I can follow up with them. We as the Race want to broaden our contact list so that we can partner with ministries serving the “least of these” and help them spread the love of Christ. Any help that you can provide us would be greatly appreciated! Together we can be the church that God calls us to be and bring His message of love and grace to a world that so desperately needs it. And yes…we will housesit cats.
Thanks for all your love, prayers, and support! Pray that I finish this Race strong as there are only 2 months left!!
