Nick Shear, age 22 from Rockford, MI. I was born and raised by my loving parents in Rockford, MI. I am the third child of five, and have been blessed to be a part of an incredible family. I attended Rockford High School for my high school years. During my time in high school, I competed athletically in cross country, track, and swimming. I graduated from Rockford in May, 2010, where shortly there following I attended Taylor University in Upland, IN. I later transferred to Grand Rapids Community College for my sophomore year and attained an Associates of Arts in General Studies. After graduating with my associates, I began to pursue a bachelors degree. Choosing a school was difficult, but God paved the way to allow me to attend Southern Wesleyan University in Central, SC. I graduated from Southern Wesleyan in May 2014 with my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. It is unclear as to where I want my life to go from here, but it is very apparent that God will use me where He sees fit.
Now that the aesthetics are out of the way, let me tell you a bit about who I am as a person. I am someone who desires to see serious change in the world I live in. I live my life for others so that they may see what life is all about. I tend to give more than I take, and see no fault in doing such. I am a dreamer, yet a realist. I set huge goals for myself, but do whatever is necessary to achieve them. I want change to happen in the world and am willing to lay my life out on the line to make it happen. I also don’t find it necessary to be wealthy. I am a man who has no problem living on a few dollars and cents as long as I am making a difference in the lives of those around me. Monetary wealth is shallow to me. I don’t see the point in accumulating dollars upon dollars, only to lose it all when you die. It makes much more sense to me to invest in the lives of my family, friends, and those who are in need. I don’t really live life by an agenda. I am a very flexible person, and can easily go with the flow. Adventure is a huge part of my life. I like to push my limits and see how far I can take myself in doing something that is extremely difficult to do. I have already completed an Ironman, and am hoping to accomplish my goals of seeing the world and making a difference for Christ within the next few years. I have yet to lead anyone to Christ but I am hoping this will change. This is because I struggled with my identity through my high school years and early college years, and I never really made it a key goal of mine to lead someone to Christ. My passion for Christ and for service was ignited a little over a year ago, and now I am on fire for living my life the way God sees fit and am desiring to lead someone down that beautiful road. You can read more about my spiritual journey in my post titled “It’s Time”. I encourage you to check it out.
I know I am not perfect, but I have a hope in my heart that God can use my imperfections to carry out his perfect plan. My ultimate goal is to leave the world a better place than when I first entered it, and to see those who are lost brought into the light.
