My name is Nick Sanderlin. I’m 20 years old and I’m from Michigan! I enjoy music more than anything. I play the drums at my church and I also play ukulele whenever I have free time. My favorite sport to play is soccer. I work as a lifeguard at an indoor facility and I also host at Applebee’s.

I signed up for Gap Year because I felt like God was calling me to more than living a comfortable life in the United States. I feel like my calling in life is to go to the dark and poor places of this planet and bring the joy and life christ offers!

I’ve been a christian since I was a sophomore in high school but this last spring is when I discovered I wasn’t an authentic christian and that God was calling me to be authentic. Ever since then I’ve been putting God in the middle and doing my best to let him lead me in my life.

My favorite verse as of right now in my life (because it changes a lot) is 1 Corinthians 10:13. It reads, “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” This verse is such a beautiful promise to me. I’ve struggled with many different kinds of temptations ever since I’ve began to live life as an authentic christian. Of course there have been many times where I’ve put my flesh first and not my spirit and have given into temptations but just knowing that theres always a way out gives me hope for my future tribulations.
