This last week has been a bit of a whirlwind. We’ve been in 3 cities, built a roof, shared testimonies, sang songs, swung on rope swings, played soccer, watched soccer, and went to church almost every day. It has been quite a change from the laid-back style of 2 weeks ago.
And I love it.
Yes, it kind of left me a little burnt out by Sunday afternoon, but Monday is our free day, so I got to spend the day just hanging out in our house, not speaking Spanish, not nearly dying, and catching up on life. I think the craziness of this week helped me realize two things. First, ministry can look like so many things, and it’s ok to go through periods of each. Having an intense week or two is great, but 11 months worth would probably kill me. On the flip side, purely relational ministry would drain me as well because I’m still working on being a more relational person (woo Introverts!). Second, it is so good to value rest and know when you need it. I was starting to get frustrated with things by Sunday, so we took a relaxing afternoon to unwind and get back right with God. There’s a reason the World Race is 100% ok with people taking additional days off than their prescribed 1 per week if they need it for any reason. 11 months is a long time for all-out ministry, so rest is very good.
In other news, I finished When Helping Hurts today, but I’m not quite sure how I want to blog about it yet, so I figured I could give you all a little glimpse of what life has looked like through a wonderful photo blog!
