If you read my last blog, you know that I wrote it halfway into training camp, and I wanted to paint a more holistic picture of the camp. Well it’s your lucky day, because here it is.

The second half of camp definitely flew by a lot quicker. Our squad was meshing a lot more, and teams were formed. We also had more free time, which was a cool way to hang out and get to know the people we will be spending the next 11 months with. Yes, we were still put through some challenges, and yes, there were still some tough times. But overall, it was a great nine days.

God is at the center of our squad, and it will be Him that leads us throughout the world. With that being said, I have some exciting news.

First, I was designated as one of two Logistics leaders for our squad, which I am so stoked for! What does that entail, you ask? Well, it means I’ll be helping with transportation between countries (minus flights), debriefs, squad finances (not team finances), and new ministry contacts. It will definitely be a challenge at time, but it will also be a chance for God to really shine and come through for us. God moves in mysterious ways, and when we need to find a bus that’s cheap enough to haul 58 people from Ecuador to Peru, God will provide.

Secondly, without further ado, I present Team Lamp Lighters!
This is the team of 7 people that I will be working alongside for the next 11 months, and let me tell you, they are all legit. Too legit to quit, in fact.
 Team Lamp Lighters

(From left to right: Jenna, Ginny, Rikki, Sean, Nathan, Allison, me)

We are team lamp Lighters because before electricity, men were designated to light the lamps in the cities every night. We are Christ’s light, and we want to take his light throughout the world. Another cool thing that Sean, my teammate said, is that the lamps are there (aka everyone has a desire for God), but we are called to go and share the light with them. It is such cool imagery, and we are excited for what God has in store for this team this year.
