We were asked to write a blog about how we were called to this mission trip and um…this is it sort of. If you have read my “About me Blog” you know how I first became involved in and then called to the mission field. So I won’t go through all that again. Instead I’ll share how God lead me to the world race.
I first learned about the world race while trying to plan a trip for my youth, that didn’t happen. The bright NEW header on the link caught my attention and out curiosity I decided to check it out. The premise of the trip set me into a daze of fantasies about how amazing it would be if God called “me” to leave everything and spend 11 months doing nothing but his work. I told my wife about it later that day and fully expected her say something like “what a bunch of crazies” or “yeah if we weren’t so busy we could do that” but all she said was “Huh.” Now I of course merely thought she was being polite, humoring my attempt at conversation about crazy people spending 11 months traveling the world, but something interested her. A few days later she brought up the topic again and informed me she had been checking out the site at work and thought it sounded like an amazing experience. She then proclaimed, flooring me I might add, “I think we should pray about going.” So we did. For the next two months we prayed together and separate about the trip and both felt God leading us to the World Race.
We’ve known for a long time that God had big plans for the two of us. Plans that went beyond the nine to five, working towards retirement, life we seem to be caught up in. And so, those plans begin here. The path toward all that God has in store for us starts August 09. Isn’t God amazing? While planing a trip that never happened, he lead me to this website and gave me the first chapter in all that will be. I can hardly imagine all that he has in store for the people on this trip. All that hearts that will be eternally affected by the work we will be doing. Thats how I was called to be apart of this. If you are a soon to be fellow racer, I can’t wait to meet and grow with you. If you are a friend or relative, pray for me, pray for us. I believe in the power of prayer, do you? And if you are a someone who is curious about the World Race, don’t be afraid to ask God if its apart of his plan for you.
