Well I had an awesome Easter weekend celebrating with my church family. I’m continuing to work on getting support letters sent out and I’m going to meet with the missions team at my church to set a time to share with the church family on Sunday morning what I believe God’s put on my heart to do and tell them how they can be a part of global missions! This coming week, I’ll be going on a 4 day cruise with my dad and sister to key west and a couple islands in the Bahamas. Looking forward to having a few days with no schedule. Hit a 15 lb. PR (personal record) on my deadlift this week at 465lb. Gonna try to post the link at the bottom of this blog. Hopefully it works. My goal’s to deadlift 500, back squat 400, front squat and bench 300, and clean and press 200+ before the World Race.
A couple things I’ve been thinking about this week. First, is the truth that in Christ, we have access to the same power that raised Him from the dead on Easter. So why are we (specifically me) afraid to be bold about sharing God’s love with others? I guess I’m still a little nervous about going out on a limb and having it snap under me. Thankfully God’s a lot more patient than I am and keeps giving me opportunities to build my faith muscle.
The other point is simply this: We are free! Praise the Lord! This applies to anything you might be struggling with, but for me, it’s guarding my eyes and heart in a sexually saturated culture. One of the truths that I had heard before, but hadn’t really made the connection in real life yet, is that temptation is NOT sin. Jesus was tempted. I think one of the lies I had been buying into, was that feeling tempted to take a second look meant that I had already been defeated and lost. I’d then proceed to get frustrated with myself for feeling tempted. The good news- I don’t have to feel like crap for being tempted. Jesus beat temptation so I can also. The bad news- I’m probably not gonna be able to let my guard down in this area of life until I’m 95 years old haha.
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just was we are–yet He did not sin.” Hebrews 4:15
