So this month in Guatemala, half of our ministry consisted of helping build the foundation of a house for a family that was recently evicted from the home they were in. The other half of the time, we traveled around to different schools teaching english classes and Bible classes. We had Saturday and Sunday off. So as awesome as the ministries were, by the end of the week, we were all ready to do a whole lot of not much.
But that wasn’t the most exciting part of Guatemala. Within a few days of getting there, we went to church with our host and the pastor was teaching on marriage. Alot of it was facts and concepts I’ve heard before, but one thing hit like a Mack truck. He was talking about the differences between men and women and how they’re a reflection of who God is, His personality. He mentioned how women want to be loved and pursued, but then he said men want to be in love and pursue. And God used that tiny little bit of the message to blow my mind and heart WIDE OPEN!!
Just as a husband is captivated by his wife and in love with her, so (and even more so) God is completely captivated and loves us. To a (good) husband, his wife is the most beautiful woman in the world regardless of what others or even she thinks about herself. And to him, she is more than worth all the blood, sweat, and tears it takes to love her well and protect her heart.
It is the same with God! He absolutely adores us and is gonna continue to love and pursue you regardless of whether you think your worth it or not. He loves you and there’s nothing you can do about it, I think I’m just now beginning to see and experience just how much God loves us and it’s the most freeing thing in the world. It’s freed me up to love God back. I can honestly tell Him “I love You” without questioning or doubting whether I really mean it or can back it up with action. Cause it’s not based on my actions. I’m just responding to His love. It frees me up to simply and genuinely love others and as a result, I got to see God touch so many people with His love that month as well as heal them physically. A couple highlights were getting to see God bring another young man into the Family and saw Him literally grow my bro’s leg out cause one was shorter than the other!!
