Disclaimer: So, I've been thinking about this "About Me" section for quite a while now…like, a long, long time. I've been throwing questions around like "How am I going to portray myself through my blogging? Do I try to sound comical? Poetic and deep? Scholarly? Am I going to sound intriguing enough to gain the support (both emotional and monetary) that I need?" Then–about 5 minutes ago–I just kinda laughed at myself. Seriously? Am I really going to try and make a new internet version of myself? Yeah, right. Lets just go with the flow. So here it goes, I'll give yall the best description of myself that I know how without boring you, hopefully you'll stick around! =)

Lets start with the basics:
My name is Neysa Hernandez (yes, I know, its different) and I'm a Daughter of the King.

I'll be 22 on January 12
I'm 100% Puerto Rican, but I was raised throughout Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, and Hawaii (you guessed it, I'm an Army brat) but Enterprise, AL will always be home to me!
I'm a Biology major at Faulkner University in Montgomery, AL and I'll graduate in May 2012 after four awesome years of playing volleyball (and a little basketball) with some amazing girls (to God be the Glory, ladies)
I'm looking to get my masters degree in Secondary Education-Biology to teach and hopefully coach, too!
I have a mom, dad, and older brother that have supported me in everything I do and have never ceased to tell me how much they love me and how proud of me they are. I couldn't ask for more.
I've also been blessed with some of the most genuine, awesome, Christian friends that I could have ever imagined having–I'd be lost without them.

A few of my interests and likes:

  • Church events, retreats, rallies, etc.
  • Sports! (volleyball, basketball, tennis, whatever you challenge me in…)
  • TRAVELING
  • Chocolaaaaaaate
  • Italian food and culture
  • Phi Lambda (not quite a sorority at Faulkner… but close enough)
  • Almost any genre of music (a good Disney song usually does the trick)
  • Natural adrenaline rushes–I hope to bungee jump, sky dive, and hand glide at least once in my life
  • Anything arts and craftsy<–new word
  • Reading a really good book, almost any genre will do
  • Doing anything outdoors–backpacking, scuba diving, jet skiing, laying on the beach, etc.
  • Coming home and reminiscing on the good 'ol days before college
  • Anything that I pin on Pinterest, clearly

Soooo, with all that being said (I know it wasn't much) I believe I'm going to leave it at this for 3 reasons:
1) To those of you who have never met me, I don't want to lose your interest!
Who I am and how I experience life will reveal itself through my future blogs better than I can cram into this one description (so subscribe to my blogs on the left side of this page!!)
2) To those who DO know me, this blog probably doesn't stand a chance to what you already know! (But still subscribe to my blog!!)
4) Ultimately, its not even about me!! Its about God and what He plans to do through me!!!

So I finish this blog with two final thoughts (and then some pictures!):

To my fellow racers who might be reading this, I look forward to the days ahead of getting to know each and everyone of you away from the computer and spending 11 months in true community with you.

**To all other readers, I deeply and sincerely ask that you PLEASE join my side in prayer and support as i begin to take on one of the biggest journeys of my life! I can't make it without you!**

Thanks for reading, it means the world to me!!

Now for a quick visual of my life and a small fraction of the people who have made it a special journey ๐Ÿ™‚
