ONE.
“Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.” Luke 15:7
The heartbeat and soul of one, is why I am called to go.
As I walked out of a Barnes & Noble this past week, a lady was walking in and struggled to hold the door open. I was compelled as anyone would be to hold the door. As I walked away from that brief small moment of assisting one out in my life, God taught me something.
Every person MATTERS. Those of you reading this, YOU matter. Everyone everywhere is going through a battle that many may not know about, but that battle matters to God, He knows. The struggles, the unanswered prayers, the confusion, even the triumphs..those all matter. The thought knowing that there are souls that never heard a simple Jesus loves you or even an inclination that there is a Jesus burdens my soul, because they matter.
When I think back to my time in Africa I remember this moment. Walking for hours with bug bites on my legs, heat relentlessly beating on my face, and sand annoyingly filling in the cracks of my sandals, I pondered to myself….why travel so far to just so happen to run into one person? then I asked the question to the leader of my trip. The answer he spoke to me will forever wreck my soul for the reality of the gospel.
“Nettie, if just one comes to Jesus, that’s it. That is what we are called to do.”
That small moment in Africa brought me to this verse in Mark 16:15. Jesus said to his disciples, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” No matter where I am, I am called to be a missionary for the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am called to be the hands and feet of Jesus and if it means leaving the country to serve for 11 months in 11 different countries and preach the gospel to the unreached for even just one or more to receive, so be it.
I am broken, but thanks to the gospel I am made new. In that I pray that ultimately you will see that Jesus loves you. He loves you so much that He died for your sins and putting your faith and trust in Him as Lord and Savior, will forever satisfy your soul.
Your soul is too important to forget.
Why? Because YOU matter to God, and matter to me.
ONE.
