I had the privilege of going to see the premier of Stop the
Candy Shop
at the Fox Theater in Atlanta on Wednesday.  It is a movie created to raise
awareness on one of the biggest and least known problems in the world.  Human Trafficking.   I honestly didn’t know anything
about it until a United Nations official spoke on it to our Race Squad in
Ukraine.

Human trafficking
is the illegal trade in human
beings for the purposes of commercial sexual exploitation or forced labor: a modern-day
form of slavery. It is the
fastest growing criminal industry in the world, and tied with the illegal arms
industry as the second largest, after the drug-trade.  (Wikipedia)

Human trafficking is a modern day reality.  The numbers are staggering with 27
million
people in slavery today, 80% of that in sex slavery, and over ½ in sex
slavery are under the age of 18 (DoSomething).

It is not ok.
It is not right.  And it
needs to stop.

Maybe God is stirring in your heart to join some forces and
help put end to this atrocity.

There are some established organizations like Night
Light International
that are fighting to see slaves set free. Also Adventures
in Missions is sending a special group of girls into Asia to hit this head on
in January 2011.  But overall this
is just a drop in the bucket.  Much
more needs to be done.   This
hits home with Atlanta ranking at 13th in the world in trafficking
women and children (Womenetics).   It is
about time we knew about it.
