Discipleship has always been an interesting topic to me.  Especially after this past weekend where my roommate, Seth, put on a roundtable on the topic of discipleship for about 50 people from a number of states.  The conference got some gears turning in my brain:

What does it mean in Matthew 28 to “go and make disciples”?

An important question considering it was part of Jesus’ final words before he ascended back to heaven and left his 11 disciples to take the reins of advancing the Kingdom.  Deep questions like this are worth some deep pondering now and again.

Did it mean:
-Go and spread gospel tracks everywhere.
-Go and put on church productions.
-Go and make youth programs.
-Go and invite your neighbor to church.
-Go and evangelize to strangers.
-Go and be a long time missionary overseas.
-Go and and be part of a small group.
-Go and work for a missions organization state side.

I would like to write out some of my thoughts and questions about discipleship over a series of blogs and would like for you to comment and interact with me with your thoughts.  I will be honest and say that I don’t really have any great answers, but I do have thoughts, and I do have some questions stirring in me.   All to often we can quote scripture backwards while standing upside down but can’t figure out how to advance forward in our own revelations.  I want to move forward with you.

So my first question to you is: what does it mean to GO?

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commended you.” -Matthew 28:18-19
