So last time I asked the question what does it mean to GO and make disciples? It was clear from your responses that part of the answer had to do with getting off the couch and doing something. A call to move, action, speak, do and multiply.
I think it is interesting that God gave a similar mandate way back in the first chapter of the Bible to Adam and Eve while they were in the garden.
“God blessed them and told them, “multiply and fill the earth and subdue it.”‘ -Gen 1:28
This too was a call to action. The world wasn’t broken yet and in need of Good News. But there was still a mandate to go out into the earth, to fill it, to rule it. To bring the fruitfulness of the Garden into the bareness of the world. I think that mandate still stands, and stands with making disciples.
We are to multiply. In other words, people are the answer. After all we are made in His DNA/Image. We need more babies. Babies that grow up and become Jesus/Disciples. I would argue people who are Jesus are people who understand and act out of their DNA/Identity.
We are to fill. We are to take seeds from the Garden and plant trees that produce fruit of Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and selfcontrol. Fill your area of influence with some Spirit fruit.
We are to Subdue it. The terrority is ours anyways. We have the rights. The enemy is squatting. We need to take back with force what the enemy stole. We are to strap on weapons (Eph 6). And give out a battle cry and shout “Freedom!” to all those imprisoned in darkness.
So GO and wake people up to their DNA, make more Jesuses, grow fruit, and take back what is rightfully yours!
What other mandates has God given us?
