Are you an average American?
There are a lot things that make up being an average Yankee. One of them is the amount of TV you watch.
Do you know how many hours of TV you watch in a week? Count it up.
The average American watches around 35 hours per week.
Do you know you burn more calories by sleeping than watching TV?
Your brain is less active watching TV than when sleeping.
35 hours is almost a work week! Kind of like having a second job. Although I don’t think it will help with the bills.
I love a good movie or show, but there is a line and 35 hours is well beyond it.
That statistic brings good insight in the state of Americans. It reveals that most of us are directionless.
People with direction are going somewhere. They are motivated. They are focused. They have to prioritize because they don’t have time for everything. There are too many important things to do.
People need direction for their life. They need something to get behind and believe in. Something to give their life to. And certainly something to spend a spare 35 hours on.
Do you feel you have something to give your life too?
I believe Jesus offers us a life that is significant, meaningful, exciting, and one worth total pursuit. Ask Him. What is it for you?
Two of my roommates did and now they are living in Kenya bringing food, water, education, and Jesus to Internally Displaced People living in tarps. Read more here.
