Hello! My name is Neely Williams and this is my first official blog. I would like to tell you a little bit about myself and why I chose to answer the Lord’s call to serve. I am 30 years young and was born in Muncie, Indiana. I was raised in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, in the charming city of Asheville and consider this to be my home. I should also mention that I do have a four legged fur baby by the name of Maggie. She is a rescue dog and was one of the best things that could have ever happened to me. Outdoor activities, painting, community service, and spending quality time with my family and friends are a few things that bring me joy.
Helping others has always been something that the Lord has led me to do with my life. I just didn’t know how to take that first step. I came across an alumni’s post on Facebook, where she was sharing her experience with The World Race. This is what sparked my interest in the program and led me to start researching and asking questions. I visited the website and saw a picture of a girl that I went to high school with. We later met up to talk about her race; and according to her, it was the best decision she ever made. During this time I was praying a lot and asking the Lord to give me a sign. A few weeks later, I saw a hat that someone had left behind at work that said “The World is Waiting”. It was at that moment, seeing that phrase, that I knew it was the Lord telling me this was my calling! I am taking a huge leap of faith and trusting that He will provide everything that is needed for me to accomplish this before, during, and after this adventure.
With your prayers and support whether that be money, supplies, or emotional I know that this dream will become a reality. I need to raise $18,000 for this trip. Any donation, no matter how big or small is appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this and support me during this life changing decision. God bless.
