I wrote a post a couple of weeks ago that I wanted to share with you about how God’s power can be displayed in every situation that we give to Him. I hope you enjoy!

Today was a good day. It was an encouraging day! God showed me just how awesome He is.
I work in fundraising.. actually I’ve been fundraising since I was 16.. and I pretty much love my job so when I decided to go on this trip I wasn’t as worried as I’m sure most people are about raising money. After all, I raise money for a good cause every day.
I was planning fundraisers and had a strategy in mind before I was even accepted to The World Race. But then I discovered something.. AIM isn’t incorporated so it’s not considered a charity in Canada. Meaning we can’t use the tax receipt for our taxes here in Canada. When I found that out I was scared. What if nobody wanted to donate? People might consider small gifts but probably not larger ones. I was half panicked and trying to think of what I could do before I realized I hadn’t even prayed!
And that’s when I realized something – I was completely dependent on my own abilities to fundraise and I hadn’t even considered God. How could I possibly bring glory to God if I’m not even praying to Him?! If I’m totally reliant on my own skills and abilities instead of looking to Him for help and guidance?
That was a couple of weeks ago, and since then I’ve been praying that God help me during this process. I’ve been asking Him to use this situation to His glory and make it possible for me to say that being a fundraiser had nothing to do with me getting donations. I want Him to get the full glory He deserves.
The encouraging part??
I’ve told a handful of people about the trip so far. I haven’t announced it and I haven’t even begun asking for support, but in a matter of 36 hours I’ve had 3 people make donations and have gone from having $150 to $1024. That’s 6% of my total goal. In fact, each donation has almost doubled my previous total. I went from $150 to $282 to $524 to $1024 in a matter of a day and a half! AND I’m officially past the $1000 mark! That’s all without asking for a single donation!!!! Talk about God’s power.
Of course I know that God will want me to work and put in the effort of asking people for help and support. But now I also know that He will lead me to those that He wants to support me. He will bring me donors without me knowing how they got to me. And, most importantly, He will use this situation for His glory.
‘For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen.’ – Romans 11:36
