One of my favorite authors, Tolkien, wrote, “It’s a dangerous business, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.” Ever since the age of sixteen, while attending a Centrifuge summer camp, I felt and undeniable call in my life to serve. I’ve completed the basics: graduate college, find a job, get a dog, build a life. Yet, each day, I feel an un-fillable void as if I am called to something different.

For the past several years, I have been praying fervently for God to show me the next step in my life, and to grant me an opportunity to use my passion for service. He has answered that prayer!

I feel he is calling me overseas through an organization called the World Race. In January, I will fly out to eleven different countries over the course of a year. Each country will present a unique and challenging opportunity to serve, not only through humanitarian aid, but most importantly, in the spreading of the Gospel.

From working with human-trafficking victims in Nepal and Malaysia, to unreached and unloved orphans in the Ukraine and Romania, to serving AIDS victims in one of the world’s last Monarchies, Swaziland, each new day will present an opportunity to share the hope of a life renewed and a reason to live, to know there is good in a dead and dying world, a promise for a life fulfilled, and an eternity with an all-loving and all-knowing creator.

For the majority of my time spent overseas, I will be living out of a backpack and a tent. No hotels, no warm baths, no double cheeseburgers, and I can’t do it on my own. I need your help. You can make a huge impact in my life, and the lives of others, just by praying. As I worry about the future, and the success of this journey, I am reminded of Paul’s letter to Ephesus:

“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Eph 3:20-21.

What an encouraging thought! It’s not about me, but Him. I am not worthy. I am not able, but He is.

So how can you be involved? There are several ways, and as I said above, pray! That’s more helpful than either you or I can possibly imagine. As James writes, “the effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.” James 5:16b. Secondly, you can give. I need $15,500 to make this call a reality. Your donation will directly impact the lives of hundreds. It’s not a decision to make lightly, and I know the economy is tough, and money is tight. I will be documenting my journey, so you can see the peoples and villages your generosity impacts. I have attached more information if you would like to join me in this adventure. Thank you for your partnership in this ministry.

Live a Life Worth Sharing,
