So in the World Race, when do things that are abnormal to you back home become normal?

It happens when

the fact that your writing this blog on a train from Lvive, Ukraine to Rivn,e Ukraine is no big deal.

Your realize you don't really need any more clothes than those that can fit In your pack.

The personal space of your tent is a luxury and a rarity

3 hour mind blowing tear jerking and fist pumping feedback sessions with your team are a nightly thing

Your 30+ year old local ministry contact is pretty much one of the guys.

Sleeping on airport floors, really is no big deal and to be expected.

2 Month Debriefs feel like huge landmarks in your life.

You would pretty much do anything for your team leader and squad leaders who you have know for less than 6 months.

Cooking for your self is rare and a privilege

Actually enjoying the food that is cooked for you happens more times than you think. I have not been to Africa or Asia yet mind you so that could change.

How raising $15,000 in 8 months is actually totally doable and just a part of life 🙂 (still needto raise 3,064 in 32 days, by July 1st to finish the World Race into Africa and Asia by the way)

Seeing squad mates leave the race cuts you to the core.

Seeing them follow Gods voice no matter how high the price brings you the greatest joy. Even if that means going home early from the race early.

The fact that you may have literally helped build a house for the past 7 hours of your day is no big deal.
Because you're having tea with some of the locals, hearing their stories, and praying over them. That's the big deal, little secret to the race that's the point of it all. Community, Relationship, and Jesus! 🙂

The fact that I have grown more in 5 months, than I ever thought possible. As a man, as a follower of Christ, and as servant.

The fact that I continue to learn who God is and what he is about everyday by the people we meet and do life with, even though we have little shared language and can barely communicate without them.

This is all my new normal and part of daily life.

This is the normal, this is the world race.

This is my race that I will finish.

Romans 5:3-5
We can rejoice too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
