Guatemala Country Number One

So where do I even begin, it is crazy to me how much God can do in four short weeks.
This month for the most part was a huge month of blessings in so many different ways, we stayed in a beautiful hostel, had an incredible ministry host, went on some pretty breathtaking adventures, and got to minister to countless kids.

Highlight Time
I thought I would tell you my top 5 highlights from this past month so here they are.

1. Carlitos!

This little dude taught me and blessed me so much. With his love, sincerity, and peace. Even though he was only 11 years old. I have a whole blog written about him ifyou would like to read it please read it here http://nathanhatton.theworldrace.org/?filename=lessons-from-carlitos

2. Luis Castillo

This was our ministry contact for the month he founded Nueva Generations this is who we were working with for the month. He is a great man of God, and has the most incredible heart for children. To see them grow into awesome men and women of God. He encouraged us with his laughter, joy and a rather strange sense of humor.

An interesting fact about Guatemala is that %60 of there population is under the age of 30 and it is the third most violent country in the world. Luis recognized these facts and knew God was calling him to stop the decay before it continues. He goes into the schools and teaches classes on subjects like values, identity, and self worth. The kids need to hear what Jesus is saying through Luis please pray for him and his ministry.

Something very very awesome God did with our time in Antigua concerning Luis and his ministry. Every day as a team of 7 we were given a budget for our food this came to 220ish Quetzales. We decided to only spend a 150 of that 220 each day so by the end of the month we would be able to bless Luis. It turns out we were able to bless Luis with 10,000 Quetzalas which converts to be around $2,000. Thats about three months of Luises operating budget! The night we gave themoney to Luis he was nearly in tears and there was shuch a joy in the place. If you have given to any world racer on my team financially YOU MADE THAT HAPPEN! So thank you thank you thank you.

3. Living In Community

I was expecting this to be a lot harder than it actually was. Mostly because my team is so awesome. I love every single one of them, I loved to cook, worship, laugh, and share my fears with each one of them. I could not have asked for a better group of six people than what God has given me with team I have. Yes we are all different and have things were working on but together we are doing great things for his kingdom and in each other. I have had some of the best times of my life with these people and its only been just over a month whew! Im pretty pumped about the rest of the year to say the least.

4. The Grandpa Home

This was hard but incredible rewarding, the language barrier really stressed me out here. Elderly people talk and talk as it is already, but combine that with a language you dont understand it can get a little frustrating. God showed me a lot about what it means to be still and listen. To look into someones eyes and to simply smile. I built some great relationships in the multiple Grandpa homes we visited. It was a great experience which I benefited from greatly.

5.Climbing An Active Volcano!!!!

What a blessing to be able to climb a volcano not many people can say that in there life. It was a great team building exercises and a great time for myself spiritually. Just rejoicing in how far God has brought me and how much he provides. When someone says yes Lord here I am send me.

In Conclusion

Guatemala needs your prayers! Luis and Nueva Generations needs your prayers! Guatemala will always have a piece of my heart. From the tiny villages we visited to Antigua the bustling tourist city it was. I loved every moment of it, and was changed because of it. I will never look at life in the west the same way. I am grateful that back in America we can flush the toilet paper, have high speed Internet, dont have hustle on the streets like so many Guatemalans have to do and dont risk our lives and lively hood trying to get to America. I am blessed to call America home. At the same time I never felt so much unity with strangers I met in Guatemala other missionaries serving one common goal to see Jesus raised!

*Thank you so much to all my supporters who have supported me in prayer and financially. I still have $2,894.05left to raise by April 1st. Lets GOOOOOO many more lives still need to be changed lets do this together LOVE YOU ALL*
