Hi! My name is Nathan Dickens and I am a 5th year senior at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, GA. I will be graduating in May with a Bachelor's in Outdoor Education. College has been an interesting journey. I went to three different colleges in three and a half years. This has contributed to me taking a victory lap!
I have been on a huge Matthew 22: 37-40 kick for the past 2 or 3 years of my life. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it. Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments". This is God's will for my life and for everyone's lives! He has called us first to love Him with everything and second to love others as ourselves.
James 4: 13-14 "Now listen, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.' Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes".
Matthew 6: 33-34 "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own". I am really trying to live day to day. I am constantly reminded of how short life really is and how I am not promised tomorrow, next week, next month, or even next year. I am presented with the oportunity of NOW and I am trying to live in that.
My heart continues to break for the heart broken. I hurt when I see people hurting and I hate it because we live in a broken, fallen world that is yearning for love and acceptance. We continue to look for it in the things of this world that can never give us true joy. But, there is someone who poors out love, acceptance, joy, and hope. It's Jesus.
I am a pretty easy going guy who loves adventures. I love rock climbing, camping, kayaking, and most of all rafting! I also really love sports and grew up playing soccer and golf my whole life. I love spending time with people and getting to know them.
I also love my family a lot. Thay are amazing! I have three siblings; Carson, Alison, and Kathleen. I love them so much and we are all really close. My mom and dad ARE the best parents ever and they are hilarious! I am about to get an awesome brother-in-law, Brad!
I am looking forward to July and can not wait to meet the team!
🙂
