Viewing the world in the face of Challenges, Heartache, and Suffering.
Often I am asked, and often I have asked myself, “If God is so perfect and loves us so much why is there so much suffering in this World?”
Hopefully, in some small way, this will help answer that question.
Have you ever had a shot? …. Did you enjoy having a needle stabbed into your body?
Most likely you dislike shots, or at the very least you can agree that they are painful to receive.
Now, think of a baby receiving his very first shots. The doctor, mother, and father all would be unable to explain to the baby, “listen I know these shots are painful, but this is to prevent even greater pain from coming in the future.” No matter how well anyone explained it the baby is still not going to understand the reason why he has to suffer through something painful like these shots.
However, ask yourself, if your child was in pain crying before you what would you do? … Well you would do what anyone would do, you would comfort the child. Even if you couldn’t explain why the pain was happening you would still be there to comfort and love and hold on them.
In this same way perhaps we are unable to understand the greater reason behind the trials we are seeing right now. We are like babies and we just need to be held. Perhaps someday when we are older we can look back and realize the reason but for now we just need comfort from our father.
So the next time this question is posed to you, or you ask it yourself, think of these pains as a shot, one with medicine you cannot yet comprehend, and reach out for the greatest comfort you could ever receive.
2 Corinthians 1: 3-4
3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
