He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. “
Matthew 17:20
I’d like to say to you that my life has been full of buckets and buckets of mustard seeds. I’d like to say that I grabbed handfuls of those mustard seeds at a time and poured them clean across my circumstances in the name of my faith. I wish I could tell you that my yoke was never tied to religious deeds and creeds that took the place of my mustard seeds. That I gave away handfuls at a time because my buckets were overflowing– all representing my unwavering faith.
That’s not my story. Sometimes I’ve looked down at the palms of my hands and they’ve been empty… no mustard seeds.
I read Matthew 17 and pondered over Jesus’ word.
When Jesus looked at His disciples, he said in exchange for your faith the size of a mustard seed, one mustard seed, nothing will be impossible for you. I prayed for Jesus to give me a mustard seed, to give me faith to do, and to go and experience a life outside of my comfort zone, a life outside of me.
I look down at my hands and see the fruit of my prayer. I see a mustard seed. Y’all, I have approximately one mustard seed, and Jesus said that’s all I need.
Come January I’m packing my bags, kissing my family goodbye for 11 months, and I’m taking my mustard seed with me across the globe and telling mountains move.
The World Race is a Christian mission trip to eleven countries around the world. The World Race is not only a mission trip but also an intensive discipleship program designed to train my generation in their specific kingdom calling. My team and I will partner with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bring the restorative hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations.
This sounds outrageous to me and every time I’m tempted to deem this too big and too scary, I remember my faith the size of a mustard seed.
I ask that you pray for my team and me as we share the Gospel in Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Spain, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Serbia, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, and The Philippines.
