This blog post was my first reactions to being in Swaziland and starting ministry.
First Impressions
The first week and a half of ministry has been crazy. We arrived in Swaziland, were debriefed, I led some worship, and we had been told what we were going to be doing for ministry. After that we had a couple of days where we were prepping for ministry, and getting used to having no power and no Wi-Fi. We met our Shepherds, (the people who run the carepoints), and got to meet and pray with them, hearing what they did at each carepoint, and what we would be doing to help them. My team has been assigned a female shepherd who has been part of the community we work in her entire life.
Ministry days
Our ministry is only a 10-minute walk from the compound we are staying at. This is extremely awesome as the Swaziland heat is often overwhelming. We have to be at our carepoint by 10:30 every morning. One of my favorite part of ministry days is having all of the kids run up to us before we even fully get there, they literally drop everything and run towards us with the biggest smiles. I have this one little guy who always runs up to me and jumps to be carried every time we go. It brings a smile to my face every time and I look forward to it every morning we have ministry. Our ministry days are Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
