“We can’t be
humble by accident – We must purpose in our heart to know our greatness yet
never exalt ourselves higher then we ought.”

What does all this have to do with me?

I want to
be a leader
. And I believe I will be a very good one.

I want to
preach in front of people
. I believe I am an excellent communicator
and will be used in mighty ways.

The Christian world has made me feel guilty about both of these things.

I am told that to lead
or preach well in the future – I should not desire either of these
things now.

And that to
have strong confidence in either is Pride.

I believe that False Humility
is crippling the church.

And that Godly confidence
looks like arrogance to the insecure.

 Whatever God has
gifted us in – let’s do it with greatness
and excellence.

Just imagine a Bold,
Confident and Strong Army of
Believers all operating confidently
in the Gifts that God has given them!

As long as we have rooted ourselves in love and service and recognize
the greatness of God  – We can be
confident that our confidence isn’t pride and stop focusing on humbling others
as well.

Back to my point
about Hip-Hop.

Confidence or SWAG drips off of every beat and lyric.

These guys believe they are THE Greatest
thing
on planet earth and that NOTHING or NO ONE can stop them.

When I listen to them I feel that same confidence surging
through me.

I feel strong and ready to take on the world.

I believe that this is a good thing.

I believe SWAG in
the arsenal of a believer is a POWERFUL and
DANGEROUS thing.

Secular Rappers have misplaced it in self-pride and vanity.

But the strong, confident energy behind it isn’t wrong at
all.

Christians in trying
to slay pride have killed their confidence and identity as well.

God has called us to
Greatness and our shining brings even more glory to Him.

As the popular
saying goes – Humility isn’t thinking less of yourself its thinking of yourself
less!

So come on Body of Christ – Let’s be GreatLet’s get our SWAG backThe World
is in desperate need of what we have to
offer.

Our deepest
fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful
beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your
playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about
shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant
to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as
we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to
do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically
liberates others.”

*This isn’t
about a promotion of the lyrics or values of the rappers I mentioned. And yes I realize the development of Christian Rap – Sho Boraka. Lecrae.
Tedashi. Grits. Etc……….I’m just using secular hip hop to make a point.
