“There is no success
without a successor”
John
Maxwell

I was a Christian leadership minor in college –

So I can’t even tell you how many times I have heard that.

I always knew it was important

This week helped me realize how I had overlooked how
important it truly is.

Some Biblical Examples:

            – The Whole Generation
after Moses wasn’t even circumcised! (Joshua 5:2-5)

            – The Whole Generation
after Joshua knew nothing of what God had
done! ( Judges 2:10)

            –  In the Old Testament a Good King was always followed
by a Bad King.

Moses
was almost killed by God for not circumcising his Kids –

Why wouldn’t
he make sure that the people he was leading were circumcised?

Why did none of the Parents of Joshua’s Generation pass
onto their Kids what God had done?

Even more important for us:

Why do
Movements of God always die out?

Here’s the trend for Every Major Move of God

From Martin Luther to John Wesley

Man -> Message -> Men Gather
-> Momentum -> Movement ->

 Management -> Maintenance -> Monument
-> Morgue.

Our G42 Leader Andrew Shearman shared some thoughts:

As people
– Our default position is to Coast. Followers default position is to stray the
moment the Leader dies!

The lack of the operation of the 5 Fold
Ministry Gifts
found in Ephesians 4.

We don’t tell our story well to the next Generation!

We make excuses
for not Equipping Others:

1)   It’s too expensive! (In Time, Sacrifice, Etc.)

2)   Misconception
about Authority.

a.   Leaders protect
Authority instead of Giving it Away!

3) Its Too Small

a.   We think that
10-12 people aren
t BIG enough for
our gifting.

4) Its Too Slow

a.   It takes a lifetime
to Equip and Impart Correctly and we want quicker results.

We were challenged to
Look at ourselves this week and Ask – “Am I worth following?”
We were given advice
on what to look for in a Spiritual
Father or Mother.

But this quote will probably stick with me the most:

“Equipping is probably the most
important thing you will do with your life. Without it your life will be wasted”

Now
It’s Time to Hear From YOU:

–  Why
do you think most Moves of God die out after a generation?

How do we actually equip others well?

Or tell a Story of how someone has poured their life into you or how you have
into someone else.
