All my muscles
contracting at once.
Tears streaming out of my
eyes.
My chest heaving up and down.
Feet stomping.
I had just
spent the last 40 minutes laughing harder than I ever had in my entire life.
For no reason in particular.
I’m not
talking about watching funny movie laughter or even the kind of laughter you do
with close friends.
about deep from your soul laughter.

Let me take you back for a second.
AnnieRose, Evin and I were going to do one last hike together before AnnieRose graduated.
The plan was to hike to the top of the mountain – stay there until dark and then hike down.
for the night because I love hiking especially with close friends.
The night had already been filled with great conversation.
(We made a plan to white water
raft together in eternity!)
pictures and Beautiful views.

Then God
surprised us.
We had taken a break half-way down the mountain to lie down
and look at the stars.
About 20 minutes in AnnieRose
started laughing. Evin and I started laughing at AnnieRose
laughing. It continued to build up until we were all
uncontrollably laughing!
then someone would lose it and uproar of laughter would come bursting up again!
After it calmed down we laid there in complete peace enveloped in the presence of God, next to close friends and staring up
at the stars.
I don’t know how to explain but there was some sort of new level of freedom that happened for
all three of us during that time.
have dreamed of a better night.
As I reflected on everything that happened
It hit me:
Life is Even Better Than I Think It Is.
And Even more:
I couldn’t have sat down and planned or dreamed up a more enjoyable night.
God just
wanted to bless us.
We didn’t ask God for it. We didn’t pray for it. We weren’t
singing worship songs.
We were just3 friends lying on a gravel road looking up at some stars.
explain a God that would bless three of His children with uncontrollable
laughter for no apparent reason?
generous, loving and good than we could ever imagine.
And that He has filled this
life with more joy, love and laughter than we could ever dream.
