All the believers were ONE IN HEART and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own but they SHARED EVERYTHING they had. Acts 4:32
Okay, so SHARING is a basic principle you are taught when
you a very SMALL child.
It’s a Simple and Beautiful concept.
But what about when your Food Budget is 3 Dollars a Day?
And you have made No Money all year?
And you really want to spend the money you do have on a Treat or to help Supplement your small meal?
Here’s a quick run-down of our Daily Meals for the 2 weeks in Split:
*
Breakfast: 1 bowl of
Corn-
Flakes.

*Lunch: 1 Egg Salad Sandwich.(And 2-3 Clementines if you want)
*Dinner: Pasta with some Veggies. Or Rice, Beans and Veggies.
I’m not complaining but take a honest look – Wouldn’t you want to pick up a few
things at the grocery store on your own dime?

Or maybe
treat yourself to an
Ice
Cream
Cone?
Now factor in that your Bank Account is low because you have made
NO CASH all year.
How quick would you be to buy things for your teammates? Or to share the snacks you have?
I’m going to be honest: I‘m not the best at Sharing.
I have learned to become GENEROUS to the Least of These: The Orphan, Widow and Oppressed.
And anyone that knows me could tell you I am Extremely Stingy on getting things for myself.
But I have struggled with sharing with my Equally as Rich (Or More) American Friends
who could easily buy for themselves what I am sharing with them.
I have known some people on The Race who have changed that Mindset though.
First and Foremost: My Teammate from 2008 – Rachel Hunt Riggs.
She never Scolded me for not Sharing.
Never drew attention to herself.
Didn’t Talk about it a whole lot.
She just SHARED. Pure and Simple. And with lot’s of Joy.
I can remember when she bought Hot Chocolate Mix in Swaziland (Super Expensive) and then just let the team GO AT IT.
Now 2 years later I am realizing the EFFECT that had on me.
Actions done with LOVE and SIMPLICITY
have a Changing Effect on PEOPLE
that OTHER STUFF can not do.
And it’s not just food either.
Watching my teammates Danny and Jonathan make Selfless Decisions.
Just Missing Jonathan!
The way the girls(Kristi, Lindsey, Amy and Katie) on my team serve and cook all the time without complaining.
When people grab my Dinner Plate and go wash it without a word. Or pick me up a snack at the store. Or take me out to dinner when they are broke themselves.
These ACTIONS have Encouraged and Pushed
Me to Share and Serve in ways that
Personal Feedback, Preaching, or Nagging never could
.
ACTIONS not only Speak Louder then Words.
They are more effective too.
