A quick update about where I am at right now.
I am currently in Hong Kong helping teach English at a Christian high school.
I arrived here last Tuesday night and will be here until the 18th of October.
Please be praying for chances to really build good relationships with the kids here.
And now back to main show…..
This is the church lot the first day we started building.
Our feet after a long day of sloshing around in the mud carrying concrete to fill up the holes we dug.
My hands after a long day clearing a field.
A shot of the fields we cleared.
Mom with her two little kittens. The gray one was a little punk! But cute nonetheless.
One of the many beautiful sunsets in Kanchanaburi.
The beams being put in the church. These logs were cut down in the jungle in the surrounding area and lifted up by hand into the holes we had dug.
The foundation now in place, the workers lay the roof down. Take a close look and you won’t see any harnesses. Nobody tell OHSA! Over the last week we had about 15-20 guys helping get the structure up. Half them were unpaid and of the Budhist faith. The other half were either paid or members of the church.
What we did a lot the last week because we had no idea what we were doing!
The building structure completed. More work on it will come soon. Keep in mind this is the only Christian church within an hour of another church!
Some Miscellaneous Photos……
The Backstory: The meat in that dish is goat. Even better we watched that goat be killed and gutted that morning. We ate it for lunch and dinner that day. Killing a goat is a way of honoring your guests in Thailand.
This beetle flew into my eye and got stuck inside my eye lid for over an hour! It took some extensive work to get it out!
Hope you guys enjoyed the pictures! If you could just go ahead and say a quick prayer for the church that was built!
Pray that:
*It will be founded on love and intimate community
*For strength, wisdom and guidance for Mom, Dad, Pastor Arun and his wife Pang.
*That the people of the church would become powerful witnesses for Jesus Christ in the community.
