Since 2010 I have been working and living in Southern California on Catalina Island at an outdoor education camp called Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI). My position allowed me to share my passion for the marine ecosystem with students from 4th to 12th grade, through hands on labs, snorkel tours, ocean kayaking, and hiking adventures, all designed to teach basic biological concepts and inspire excitement for the ocean in the next generation. It was during this experience that the Lord convicted me to place my whole life in His hands, to leave my current life, follow Him to other parts of the world where people are suffering physically and spiritually.
God has placed on my heart a desire to use my freedom in Christ as an opportunity to serve people with love (Galatians 5:13). During the month of August, I felt God’s presence weighing heavily on me to enter full time mission work. My eyes were open to the blessings I had been given and I no longer could be content receiving so much and giving so little. The Lord had convicted me to give my entire life as an offering to Him.
I left CIMI at the end of November, returned home, and was accepted to Adventures in Mission’s The World Race. I leave in July, spending one month in each of the following countries; Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, India, Nepal, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda. In these countries, my team of 5-6 people will have the opportunity to help run programs for kids involved in gangs, work with trafficked men and women, help feed and care for orphans, build fresh water drinking wells, while bringing them the hope of Jesus Christ. This trip will strengthen my faith and open my eyes to the depth and power of God. I will be challenged to view God as He really is, completely in control of my life.
Your prayers are the most important support you can give, but I would also ask that you partner with me financially. I need to raise 15,500 dollars to cover traveling, living, and program costs. Please prayerfully consider whether God is leading you to give of your own blessings. Your financial support can be given as a one-time gift or as a monthly donation, where you choose the amount, and the beginning and end date. For example, if 29 people pledge $50 a month for 11 months, I would receive all of the funds necessary for my trip. Please pray that the Lord will continue to shape my heart and will towards His, so that I may become an effective reflection of His grace to those I encounter. I am filled with an excitement for what God is going to do in my life, faith, and how He will use me to “make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19).
