Have you ever been exactly where you know you’re suppose to be?
I have no doubt that being on The World Race is exactly where the Lord wants me to be. I have been learning how to walk in his will and I have been trying to align myself with him daily. I have been able to be a part of something that is bigger than me. I am learning who I am in the Lord and in the process I have been traveling the world spreading his love.
Although I have no doubts I am exactly where I need to be it doesn’t mean its always easy. I haven’t been home sick except for a couple nights ago I sent an email to my good friend Adam, and that’s when I realized how far away I actually am. I wasn’t able to call him up to get lunch and just talk about life. I have so much I have been learning and walking through. I wish I could sit down with each of you over lunch and tell you everything that is going on.
The Lord has really been teaching me about investing in my surroundings. I don’t want to get home and look back and just see a “good trip.” I want to be able to look back and see the Lords Presence in my past year, I want to be able to see growth and transformation in my life, I want to have lasting relationships with my team/squadmates, I want to make a difference. In order to do this I need to step up and be invested in my teammates and squadmates lives. Even if I don’t think I have anything in common with them, (which is highly unlikely… Seeing as how we are both on this crazy adventure together), I have to be willing to look for things I have in common with them. I need to be invested in my ministry, I am representing Christ in all I do. I need to make sure that I am serving out of the overflow from my relationship with Christ and not of my own strength.
In 1 Corinthians 3:10-11, Paul talks about building foundations and having other people build on top of the foundation he has laid. We need to be conscience of the foundations we are building. The foundation supports the whole building, a faulty foundation leads to a lot of structural problems. In the same way we need to be careful of the foundations we are laying we need to be careful of what we are building on the foundations that have been laid for us. If someone has put in time, and energy into building a foundation we need to be careful of what we put on it. We need to be sure to honor them and honor the Lord in what we put up. We can make the most beautiful building but if we make it with our own strength and doing then it will be exposed for what it really is, imperfect. We need to seek the Lord in everything we are doing and align ourselves with him daily so that we can have no doubt that we are doing his will.
Sorry if I’m preaching at you, but I’m going to continue. BE USED WHERE YOU ARE! Pray, seek the Lord, walk in his plan daily, be in his word, know what his will for you life is and live in it. You don’t have to travel around the world to serve him and to learn who he is to you. Get involved in your community, make people see a difference in the way you live your life. Serve out of love and joy. Spread Christ’s joy in you to the people you come in contact with.
One of my favorite things to do when I’m back home is to do “random acts of kindness”, I love blessing people and not seeking reward or recognition. When you serve with expectations or receiving praise or recognition you are making it about yourself instead of having your actions point towards Christ and having him receive the glory. Ryan, Jeremy, and myself were talking about this very thing the other night when one of us challenged the others to stop talking about it and be about it. So we decided to buy cokes for people and give them to them just because. Even within our close community it wasn’t something that people were use to. Be courageous, change someone’s day, step out in faith and do something you’re not comfortable with, be apart of something bigger than you (even if it feels small and insignificant), let the Lord show up in and through your life.
