This blog is a copy of a journal entry from February 10th

It is now 5:49am as I am writing this in my journal. Tim and I just got back from the 4am prayer service. We went expecting popcorn prayer with about half a dozen men and women from the church. We left shocked and blown out of the water. It started with about 5 or 6 adults praying all at once fairly quietly with a random hymn thrown in there somewhere. About 20 minutes in, about a dozen orphans between the ages of 10 and 15 showed up and started praying with us. A few more people trickled in, until there were about 25 Haitians praying to God. It was totally
dark, so you didn’t have any of that I don’t wanna look funny kind of stuff going on. They just prayed in the Spirit for about 30 minutes and then they started singing worship songs. 25 Haitians, half of which were under the age of 16, were just walking around praying and singing, singing and praying. Tim and I joined in as best as we could trying not to bump into people. Honestly, before the kids showed up, it felt like a normal prayer service. When the children came in, the Holy Spirit came in with them.. This was not a prayer service anymore. It was a royal butt-whoopin’ on the demons in the land. You could feel the power coming from these kids’ prayers.

Back in San Juan , Dave Brown said that he believed that children were not the spiritual leaders of tomorrow but they are the spiritual leaders of today. I just saw evidence of that. They brought the Holy Spirit into the prayer meeting. Their prayers and worship had more passion and power than that of any prayer service or meeting that I have ever attended. I think that the American church is missing out because we don’t expect our children to be prayer warriors. This church encourages anyone to come and they
get over a dozen prayer marines. I mean seriously, they were all about it. Jesus said we need to have the heart of a child. I think we need to have more role models present in our seekings of God. When something big comes up, let’s ask the kids to pray with us. Who knows, an hour and a half of passionate prayer and worship, just might do a lot.
