We were asked to write a blog on how we were called to this mission trip.  This is my story.  I have always loved serving others.  When I was a kid, I would be the unofficial doorman at church.  I would just stand there and wait for someone to walk up then open the door for them.  In 2005, my mom and sister ‘bought” me a mission trip to Tijuana, Mexico to help build houses for the needy.  It was there that I found my calling to the mission field.  Since then I have gone to Haiti twice (’07 and ’08), Mississippi twice to help with the Katrina stuff (’06 and ’07), and went to Oakville, Iowa, a nearby town that got almost completely wiped out by the recent flooding, three weekends last month.  I can’t get enough of helping the downtrodden in the name of Jesus Christ.  Anyhow, I learned about the World Race a few years ago by e-mail.  When I went to Mexico with Global Expeditions, I got on their mailing list and they sent me an advertisement for it.  As soon as I saw it, I felt the Lord tugging on my heart.  Initially, we had planned that my mom, sister and I would all go on the trip together.  But mom was too old, and Bex had other callings to tend to, so we decided that I would go alone.  So for three years, I have been saving up all I can and working hard to pay off my car, and it seems that now, after three years of dreaming of this trip, I will finally get to go out and make deciples of 11 nations!  I am hoping that this trip will help me see if God wants me to do this stuff full time or just week-long-trips whenever I can afford them.  I know he wants me to be a preacher, but the question is if he wants me to do it here or out there.  Anyways, that is how I was called to this mission trip and what it means for me.
