Friday was the start of a whole new style and way of life for me, my parents, and hundreds of other young adults and their parents.
We arrived in Atlanta and began our journey to the start of WRGY. I’m not going to lie, it was a very sad and hard time for me (and my parents too). We knew that we would have to say goodbye in person for the last time for at least six months. All the parents had to leave on Saturday; I didn’t want to let go and neither did they, but we had too. Just about every time I was alone I would begin to tear up because we have always so close to each other, but we have now found ourselves apart by land.
As mom and dad left I continued on in Atlanta until Monday which began the long process of travel day from Atlanta to Thailand. I wasn’t sure why they called it “travel day” when it literally took us THREE/FOUR days to get to Chiang Mai, but I soon realized that it felt like one gigantic day because we were only able to sleep on planes and in airports. The time kept changing back and forth too going from one time zone to another. It all began at two in the morning with a bus ride to Nashville from Atlanta (on a double decker bus too!). Then began the journey of plane rides and layovers, FUN FUN!!! We had a few plane rides that were two to five hours long, but then we had a monster FOURTEEN hour plane ride!!! All I can say is at least they had bathrooms, pillows, blankets, food, and tvs.
We arrived in Bangkok, Thailand around three or four in the afternoon, and then to our final destination in Chiang Mai around twelve or one in the morning. We then to a tuk-tuk to our home for the next two months.
Last night was the first night I had actually slept in a bed since Sunday night; I only got four hours of sleep, but at least there was a bed! My sleep schedule is so messed up , but I will soon adjust.
It’s so weird, I called home this morning at ten in the morning for me, but it was ten or eleven at night for them; I’m getting started when their going to bed. That will take some getting used too!
What to Pray About:
– health, as we get adjusted to our new way of life
– strength in the hard and lonely times
Thanks so much for reading my blog; I will try to keep everyone updated as much as possible!
Love, Natasha
