Here is a picture of my new team: ROOTED! I love these people already! In order on the pic, it's me, Ben Gagne, Crystal Adams, Julie Malament, Beka Fritz and in front of course is Trey Genser! Here's how we got our team name 'Rooted' :
Ephesians 4:17-19: "And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Psalms 1:1-4 " Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in seasonand whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.
We decided to be called Rooted because we want our 'roots' to grow deep in the knowledge of the Lord so we can stand strong in our faith! Keep reading to find out what we are doing this month!
This week was a week of change in our squad! It has been crazy and exciting! So, as you know, I have a new team. All of the teams changed. Our current squad leaders are leaving at the end of this month so they rose up 3 new squad leaders! They are Chelsea Hughes, Courtney Buckner, and Jake Morris!! (Chelsea was my old team leader… go mama!) Although we will miss them as our team leaders, we are excited for them and their new role… we know they were appointed by God! We also rose up 3 new team leaders: Ben Gagne(my new team leader) Andrew Habermas… and my sister.. Rachel Ritsema! woo hooo!! Exciting!
Now on to our ministry.. here's the tricky part… we are in Malaysia. It is a closed country. That means we are not allowed to share the Gospel of Jesus… it is against the law. 🙂 Yea. So… in other words, I can't go into too much detail on my blog this month.. I have to be very vague. What I can tell you is that we are going to be VERY busy this month (which is so exciting to me). Our main ministy will be teaching at a Burmese Refugee school. (SO EXCITED ABOUT THAT). We have gone through some pretty intense training in the past few days… I can't believe what is going on in Burma right now that is making the people flee… you should research it! There is practically a genocide going on… pretty crazy stuff! Anyway, on top of that ministry, we will be working with prostitutes through a ministry (can't put it on here), working with women.. leading Bible studies, preaching at various churches, working in a restauant (how cool is that!… I got to serve yesterday!!) and finally, we are doing JUNGLE outreach to the indiginous Malays!! Wow! The cool thing is our contacts are VERY orgainzed and very driven in their ministry… they are going to keep us busy and focused this month! I am SO ready for it… bring it on!! I'll post some pics in my next blog of the place we're staying (I can't put the city, or anything on here) but it is really cool. So, keep team Rooted in your prayers! I will be updating my blog about once a week since we have to walk to a coffee shop to get online 🙂
