Isaiah 53:5 “But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed.”

To be our Redeemer, to be our Savior, to be our Purpose, Christ was physically pierced.  He bore unimaginable pain and anguish for our sake.  The sin of the entire world, of every human who had lived and was yet to live, was thrashed upon His back over and over.  A wooden beam held up the Light and the Love that has no equal, has no competition, has no worthy adversary.  His suffering became our salvation.

We too have been pierced, but instead of pain, it is complete, incomprehensible freedom.  When Christ pierces our hearts and penetrates us to the depths of our souls, we become so alive in Him that we are often left speechless by His magnificence.  His presence in our lives is so overwhelming that we can live sold-out to His purposes, because we know anything this world offers is nothing but a crumb.  The Lord is a banquet table.  We are here to bring Him glory, to serve Him with every breath and to pour out His love on others.  He was pierced.  We’ve been pierced.  And I pray I never stop seeking out and serving the One who gave it all for us… 🙂
