If the Lord wears t-shirts, He has one with your picture on it and the word “mine” followed by a giant smiley face. If the Lord has tattoos, your name would be written across His heart. If the Lord has a vehicle with a bumper sticker, it would say “my children are honor students in the Kingdom of Beloved.” You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). The Everlasting rejoices over you with singing (Zephaniah 3:17). You belong to Unfailing Love (Romans 14:8). This Truth is hard to comprehend, hard to understand, hard to fully grasp. This makes it all that much more beautiful and astounding. It’s not that the Lord has distanced Himself from us through His Holiness; it’s quite the opposite. His affections for us are overflowing, passionate, zealous.
Our enemy is a master liar and deceiver, and I believe one of his biggest arrows throughout time has been to make us feel insignificant, worthless, helpless, hopeless, defeated, ashamed, unlovable. I know in my own life I have fought these lies time and time again. The enemy wants us to believe we are not good enough, strong enough, smart enough, pretty enough, thin enough; the list goes on and on. These lies have continuously wrecked havoc on our ideas of who we are and why it is we exist. But for every arrow the enemy shoots, the Lord has the answer; it is the cross.
The One Who Saves made it abundantly clear that we are His when He gave Himself up for our sin. He loves us in the middle of our brokenness. He loves us when our lives are shattered. He loves us even when we turn our back on Him. He loves us. Period. And with that love also comes the promise that we are not here to bide time until we go home. We are here to change the world. “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him Who called you out of darkness and into His wonderful light.” 1 Peter: 2:9.
You are valuable. You have a purpose. The Redeemer sees you. He SEES you. His heart leaps for you. The Creator fervently and madly adores His creation. You are immeasurably loved. You are a prince/princess of the Most High. The Lord is for you. He dances over you. You. 🙂
