This is going to be hard.  It will probably be so emotionally draining that it could be easier to let apathy set in and not feel anything. For four months straight we will be dealing with victims and perpetrators of human trafficking;  children who have been brutalized, both physically and emotionally.  Adults who have let the enemy gain control of their lives, giving them the ability to dehumanize others.  Such pain and heartache that hopelessness tries to blanket every soul and the eyes of the victims are almost lifeless.  This is going to be hard.  I can’t do this…

But Christ can.  And He has chosen us to go and be His hands and feet.  He has called all of His followers to “speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy” Proverbs 31: 8-9.  It will be HIS strength that tackles trafficking head-on.  It will be HIS Hope that will ignite a fire in the life of someone so abused words fail to describe what they’ve been through.  It will be HIS Love and Light that will strike the darkness.  Not just faintly show up, but the darkness will be PIERCED by Him and Him alone. There is no amount of brokenness He can’t fix. There is no amount of despair He can’t reach.  There is no amount of pain He can’t heal; even the indescribable scars trafficking victims have can be washed clean by His blood.
I can’t do this…but He can.  And He lives in His followers…so we go… 🙂
