“Now it is God Who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.” 2 Corinithians 1: 21-22.
I was absolutely struck by these two verses the other day. I don’t know if I just haven’t read 2 Corinithians much, or if I read these verses differently than I ever have before. But for whatever reason, I was literally brought to tears by these verses. The Lord of heaven and earth, Who Was, Is and Is to Come, the One who has the world in the palm of His hand, has put His seal of ownership on all who follow Him; not in a collective group, but individually. He smiles on you. He smiles on me. We are His beloved. And not only that, but He has filled our hearts with His Spirit. He literally lives in us. Not because we’ve earned it, or deserve it, but because of His passionate, fervant Love for us. He is the King, and He wants a relationship with us. He pursues us. And out of all the words I could use here to try and describe such an indescribable gift, this is what I came up with: wow. 🙂
