So, it came to my attention a few weeks ago that at least one of the countries we’re visiting (Cambodia) sells deep-fried tarantulas in their street markets. The fact that they deep-fry them doesn’t bother me; that they have them to deep-fry does. ๐ You see, I am not a fan of spiders. Yes, I know they are a great benefit to our world in that they eat many other bugs, and sure, their webs can look awesome in the sunlight with tiny drops of dew gliding ever so slowly to the ground. But they creep me out. Quarter-sized spiders and under aren’t a big deal. Huge and hairy tarantulas? That’s a whole other story. So, I already have my wonderful prayer supporters praying about this for me (really, I do. It’s true. ๐ ). My biggest prayer on this subject is we won’t have any tarantulas anywhere near us. Ever.
Will the Lord grant my request? I have no idea. But there is something He keeps telling me…
“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.” Psalm 37: 5-6
“Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in Him.”
Psalm 32:10
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5
“Those who know Your Name will trust in You, for You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You.” Psalm 9:10
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped.” Psalm 28:7
“Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge.” Psalm 62:8
I could keep going. I know that my spider issue is small, especially considering the scope of our trip and what we will be dealing with. But I also know the Lord cares about every concern we have. He makes it abundantly clear we need to trust Him with everything, even the small things. Or in this case, the big, hairy things… ๐
