So. . .
I was going to post a few top 'ten' lists but felt like that was inappropriate since our number is eleven. But then I was like well everyone is doing that. SO in an effort to be somewhat originial here are a few Top ten (plus one) of what I expect, what I don't expect, and some other randoms. Enjoy. π
Top ten (plus one) weird things I'm expecting to see:
1. People eating bugs – and liking it.
2. Rodents for dinner . . . on a stick – for sale, on the side of the road.
3. Toddlers panhandling
4. Monkeys that steal . . at border crossings . . from your open daypack
5. People using the 'facilities' which are just little holes on the side of the road
6. Thousands of eyes surrounding when you need to use one of the above mentioned 'facilities' in the middle of the night
7. Helena doing an imaginary lasso through random border crossings in Africa
8. Becki and Bethany trying to do a handstand somewhere that results in them getting autographs
9. A shrine to cows
10. A shrine to cats
11. Elephants, Giraffes, Zebras crossing the roads like it's normal. π
Top ten (plus one) things I'm pretty sure will happen:
1. Greasy hair- and a lot of it
2. Dirt. Lots of dirt.
3. Arguments over the theme song for the country
4. Giving away random items to make my pack lighter
5. Getting lost – a lot.
6. Forgetting things . . often.
7. Sleep. Deprivation.
8. Miscalculating currency exchange rates
9. Purchasing something 'exotic' and discovering you'd like it to stay that way
10. Losing a blog – after writing it for 30 min – because the internet disappears
11. Africa. belly.
Top ten (plus one) things that I'll probably learn:
1. How to swallow food without making a scoffing face, followed with a HUGE smile about how delicious it is
2. The way to pronounce – my stomach is queasy – in at least 8 different languages
3. The difference between our 'time' and Africa 'time'
4. The most efficient ways to use baby wipes
5. How to sleep on the ground effectively
6. How to CAMP!
7. The metric system and conversion math
8. The way to survive without coffee
9. Organizational skills
10. 11 different ways to do laundry
11. How to appreciate a life without all of this 'stuff'
Top ten (plus one) things that I believe God will teach me:
1. Patience
2. Understanding
3. Compassion
4. Loyalty
5. Sympathy
6. Wisdom
7. Love
9. Forgiveness
10. Vulnerability
11. Silence
Top ten (plus one) things that God is already changing in me:
1. Freedom
2. Peace about uncertainty

4. Financial dependability – in myself
5. Not feeling like a burden
