Be Salt.
I get a bit nostalgic when I hear that term. It transports me back to my SEU days. It reminds me of this burnt orange t-shirt my sister got one year visiting SEU for 'preview days' and how I wanted to wear it SO bad so I could be 'cool.' I guess I wasn't too concerned that burnt orange and my skin tone don't mix too well and actually makes me washed out and sickly looking . . .
And then I feel myself tense up and get a bit cautious as my roommate has ruled salt out of her life. In fact, I've caught her watching me cautiously when I've made guacamole so she can pull the plug if I happened to shake the salt shaker a bit too much. Little does she know that I just added more salt when she left the kitchen.
But all of that is besides the point.
This is the point:

To be the salt and the light of the earth.
To carry on the 'torch' of Jesus in a not so dramatic Olympic Gladiator way …
If salt loses it's saltiness there's no reviving it. And if a bulb breaks – there's no rebuilding it.
Unless you're God.
Isn't it amazing that He can pick up your saltless, broken self and restore you back into what you're called to be?
He can make you shining salt again. I know – it sounds cheesy and in some ways it probably is a bit …
BUT once He's restored you,
it's time to pick up your cross and go take your shining, salty self into the world.
To spread His love,..
His restoration …
His mercy, grace, peace ..
His salvation.
That's what I'm doing.
Picking up my cross and taking my shiny, salty self into countries that could use more light and salt,
(both literally and figuratively.)
And to do it .. I need to raise the funds.
I've posted blogs about fundraising and how YOU can help.
But now I want to touch on the fact that I CAN HELP.
I'm willing to work and assist you in anything that you might need help with to earn money for this venture.
I'm really good at painting (as long as there's a drop cloth),
pulling weeds (help prepare me for the outdoors!),
editing papers,
organizing (a bit OCD),
data entry (almost tax season),
cleaning (pristine),
cooking and baking (pre-made
meals while you're out of town and your family still needs nourishment),
ironing and laundry (with amazing smelly goodness),
babysitting (I LOVE little kid movies!),
tutoring (just not math please),
and so many other random tasks.
God has granted me health and working limbs. Please allow me the opportunity to work towards this goal.
Let me be the salt in your life and help you in whatever way you might need.
Be salt and a light to the world.
That's what I'm striving for, both here and out there.
<3me.
