The World Race teaches you
to appreciate the small things.
Perhaps you aren't aware of HOW small, so here's a fun little list:
1. Beds (ok, yes – that is obvious)
2. Peanut butter (it has proven difficult to find)
3. Mildly cold showers (as opposed to antarctic cold showers – and yes, there's a HUGE difference)
4. Toilets that flush successfully; the FIRST time
5. Soft toilet paper and
being able to FLUSH IT!
6. Toilet paper holder ON THE WALL and PAPER TOWELS!
7. Chairs in ANY shape or size (a million hallelujahs is there's a cushion)
Or just FURNITURE IN GENERAL!
8. A REAL towel (rather than a shamwow – haha)
9. Fresh, clean laundry that SMELLS good
10. Creamer for the rare coffee
11. Carpet
12. Air conditioning (and, no we haven't had that blessing yet)
13. Not having to debug and spray a perimeter of bug spray to protect said sleeping area (that hasn't happened yet either – I think I killed like five spiders when we got here yesterday)
14. Having clean feet (very rare)
15. More than one outlet OR a power strip (sigh, I love those things)
16. ICE ICE ICE ICE ICE ICE (I can't say it enough: ICE!!!)
17. Choosing your own food, and time that you want to eat (only on debrief thus far :sigh:)
18. Traveling long distance in comfort and with a roof over your head (turning out to be pretty rare here)
19. Freedom to go out into the world by yourself (including driving a car)
20. Having a closet (see below, haha)
<3tasha

"Who says you can't have a closet on the World Race?"
This is my closet I created in Nicaragua for this month.
Why you ask? .. well – because I can. 😀
