I was having a bad day for various reasons . .
and I was really lonely.
(Funny how even living in community can't keep you from feeling that way.)
BUT – God gave me a BESOS!
(That means kiss in spanish.)
Here's the short but sweet story . . .
We were out for ministry in a colony working with the children in the neighborhood.
We spent the morning loving on the kids and playing games with them.
I wasn't feeling the greatest so somehow I became the bag watcher
which is pretty important in Honduras as there's a big problem with theft here.
To my right sat a grandmother and her grandaughter who was just the cutest little baby ever.
She was about 16 months and was super sweet.
The grandmother kept looking at me
and I just smiled and said hello.
Then, she handed her grandbaby to me.
The baby's name was Genesis and just sat in my lap and cuddled with me for a good 25 minutes.
I could have sat there all day but we were leaving for a different colony so I had to say my goodbyes.
I kept asking Genesis if she wanted to come home with me and she just smiled and giggled.
As I said goodbye, Becki wanted a picture of the family.
After she took a picture, the grandmother insisted that I take one with them as well.
We smiled and Becki needed another one so I rubbed Genesis' back and gave her a quick kiss inbetween shots.
A short hesitation later, Genesis leaned over from her grandmother's arms and
kissed me on the cheek.
The picture below was taken right after I receieved it.
You can just see the accomplishment in the sweet baby's eyes and how proud the grandmother was! 🙂
It was such a cute reminder that we're never alone
and that God has me here for more reasons
than I can understand at any given moment of time.
I got a BESOS and I LOVED IT! 🙂
